Redwoods and Oregon Coast

This Spring I attended a photography workshop in the Pacific Northwest to photograph the California Redwoods and the seascape along the Southern Coast of Oregon. While I lived in San Diego for many years, I never ventured much past LA so I was excited for my first visit to Northern California, and to see and photograph these giant ancient Redwood trees.

This provided a great opportunity for me to hone my forest and seascape photography skills, and to pursue learning a new skill-set - night photography - by photographing the Milky Way along the beautiful Oregon Coast. As an added bonus, we caught the Rododendrons and Lupines while they were in full bloom.

We had a great group on the workshop, led by Dusty Doddridge and Josh Merrill. I walked away with some really nice images and had a lot of fun in the process! I also ran into some photography friends from some prior workshops and met some new ones as well! Overall, just a great trip!

Here are a few images I captured along the way (please click or tap image to see larger view. For iPhone users, tap and turn phone sideways 😄).

Land of the Giants, Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, California

Secret Beach Milky Way, Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor, Oregon
